Are you a University of Maryland football fan? Are you an aspiring football player? If so, you may want to move to Maryland today and take advantage of their new indoor state of the art facility.

With the latest pairing with Under Armour and the University of Maryland, many sport fans speculated the influence the five year agreement would have on the university. Many questioned if this new partnership could help boost the popularity of Maryland’s football program, as Nike did for the University of Oregon. By the looks of the $155 million facility, the answer could be yes.

Largely sponsored by Under Armour, the new indoor facility is an active attempt to take Maryland’s football team from what it is now, to a national power house. The first step was the team’s overall look, which they improved with a redesigned uniform that was displayed in their 2011 televised opening game against Miami. Continuing on their transformation from good to great, Maryland tackled their weakest link which was the lack of an indoor facility.

Maryland’s football struggles are over. The new facility will have the advantage of offering several programs for academics and training. the University of Maryland took indoor training facilities to the next level, surpassing many of the Big Ten national standard facilities. If you get the chance to stop by, take a look at the next-level training amenities that University of Maryland has today.

Are you thinking of changing your flooring this winter? Consider switching your cold tile or wood floors to a warm and cozy carpet

All My Sons Moving & Storage of Maryland recommends a nice carpet flooring for bedrooms and living rooms, which are meant to be areas in your home where you can be comfortable.

Having a cozy carpet flooring is essential if you want to lay on the floor and play games with your family or not have to worry about putting on slippers for the short walk to the bathroom.

Unfortunately, there are several types of carpet options, often times making the carpet selection process a hassle.

Your local Maryland movers did a little research on the top carpet styles in order to help narrow down your search.

When choosing a carpet you should think of the fibers and construction of the wall-to-wall rug, as well as your lifestyle. The majority of carpets produced in America have one of six pile fibers; including: nylon, polypropylene or olefin, polyester, wool, and cotton.

The local Maryland moving specialists learned that one of the most popular materials for carpet is nylon, due to its durability and forgiving nature. If you have a large family that includes pets and young children, nylon can be a great choice because it is easy to maintain.

When it comes to carpeting options, nylon carpet is one of many options to choose from. Always take into consideration what is practical for the area of the home that you are looking to carpet, and make a decision based on what will best serve your family.

Getting the just the right amount of sleep is a struggle that many people are too familiar with. All My Sons of Maryland understands that a good night’s sleep is hard to come by, which is why our movers want to make sure that you are not losing any sleep over your move to Maryland. Do not let the stress of moving ruin your nights before or after your big move.

Moving into a new home always brings stress and body aches from the heavy lifting, packing, and cleaning. However, it is time to start fresh in your new home, which means getting a good night’s sleep after the move is a must! All My Sons Moving & Storage of Maryland recommends the following tips in order to get a better night’s sleep.

  1. First, et your professional movers take care of moving your belongings. With the holiday celebrations just around the corner, this is the time to enjoy your friends and family.
  2. Once you are already moved in, you will need to adjust to your new home. Consider the colors that you surround yourself with in your room. Painting your room cool and calming colors can help promote relaxation and create a soothing feel.
  3. Another common mistake that people tend to make is keeping the same mattress over its allotted time. Many people believe that their mattress will outlast them, but the truth is, you should replace your mattress every eight years. Make sure that your mattress and pillows are comfortable and not outdated so that you can be more comfortable in your new home.

The nation is witnessing decreasing gas prices and Marylanders are filling up their tanks, fast!

Although gas prices are usually lower in the fall than in the summer, the recent weeks have brought a drastic drop that we have not seen in years.

In July, the price of crude oil by the barrel was over $100. On Monday, the nation saw the prices at the pump drop an average of 11 cents, due to the current barrel cost of only $80.

Marylanders have been seeing $2.99 per gallon signs and stopping to fill up as soon as possible before prices inevitably increase again. However, driver advocacy group AAA expects prices to drop another 20 cents by the end of the year.

Averages across Baltimore are $3.04, $2.99, $2.98, and $2.96. According to AAA, the rates are 25 cents less than they were last year and 17 states are seeing an average of less than $3 per gallon.

Maryland residents welcome the new fuel costs and say that it will give them a little extra pocket cash to be able to go to a nice dinner, see a movie, or do something with the family on the weekend, and more excitingly…on Halloween!

The extra pocket cash that people are likely to spend within their local business market, will stimulate the local economy and cause a positive ripple effect.

If you are planning on making a trip to Maryland or moving to Maryland before the end of 2014, be sure to take advantage of the ultra-low fuel costs and save money on your vacation or move.

Harford County has no shortage for something spooky and fun to do this Halloween.

The Festival at Bel Air will be hosting its 26th Annual Halloween Costume Parade, Contest & Trick-or-Treat on Saturday, October 25th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Each year, the Annual Costume Parade and events draw thousands, making it the county’s largest fall event and arguably the largest event of the year.

Located in the parking lot between the RiteAid and Uptown Cheapskate, kids in all costumes are welcomed and will receive a reusable trick-or-treat bag that they can fill with candy at the event or while making rounds in the Main and Bond street areas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The festival gave out over 1,300 bags last year, as well as prize bags for the top ten costume contest winners.

Another event to check out is at Wegmans in Abingdon. Taking place on the same day as The Festival at Bel Air, Wegman’s Halloween Celebration is another trick-or-treating event where children can also enjoy a Witch Hat Ring Toss, Boo! Bean Bag Toss, and Pin the Tail on the Cat. A pumpkin painting class will be held at noon and is $5. At 6 p.m. the entire family can also enjoy a viewing of “Hocus Pocus”.

If you are looking for more of a scare, Legends of the Fog will be featuring their Sinister Circus Haunted Hayride and Carsins Manor “abandoned orphanage” throughout the entire month of October, until November 1st.

Creepy Creek Canoe will also open their venue to guests who would like to embark on “a spirited exploration of legends and lore of man and beast” on October 24th, according to the Anita Leight event website.

Governor of Maryland

Governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley

Today’s a big day for Maryland. A wealth of bills passed this spring are now law. While the many bills vary greatly in their purposes, most of them should make Maryland a more safe, fair, or enjoyable place to live. As a result, we’ve already seen an increase of people moving to Maryland.

Among the laws is a measure to increase our state’s wildlands areas by about 35%, protecting a significant amount of natural land for future generations to enjoy. It’s the first time that the wildlands have expanded in over a decade and the largest expansion since the Maryland Wildlands Act of 1971 established them.

Also among the wilds, hunting restrictions have eased. Some Sundays in October and January now allow archery deer hunting, a measure intended to help keep blue collar Marylanders fed. Small game such as squirrels or grouse will be open game with both bows and firearms in December. Many Pennsylvania hunters already come to Maryland for the weekend, boosting the local economy in the process. This new law should increase the benefits further.

Among the other changes are increased incentives for individuals and businesses to buy electric vehicles and charging stations, measures protecting victims of dog attacks, and changes to the move-over law that help get tow trucks to wrecks quickly, helping with traffic.

While there are certainly positives and negatives for most laws, we’re glad to be in a state that’s trying to make itself a better place to live.
